ABOUT
Hi, I'm a Board Certified Adult Psychiatrist, and I have worked locally in Santa Cruz County for over 25 years.

I completed medical school after graduating from college with a double major in Molecular Biology and Psychology.

I then completed my Residency training in Ohio, at The University of Cincinnati, a research institution known for innovative treatments for various psychiatric conditions, including Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia. Also, I learned about psychotherapy at the Cincinnati Psychoanalytic Institute, which balanced my training in a parallel with my undergraduate work. I continue to carry this balanced view of mental health, as biological and psychological.

After finishing my training, where I served as Chief Resident, I worked for Santa Cruz County. I worked as a psychiatrist treating the Chronically Mentally Ill population in Watsonville, where I was also able to use my second language, Spanish. It gave me valuable insight into available resources in the County, as well as learning about local cultural influences. This added the value of a person's social experience to my view of mental health.
The "biopsychosocial model" is a good way to consider all the factors that may be contributing to a person's situation.

All of this experience, and the hundreds of people I have met along the way, have shaped my identity as a compassionate provider and mental health advocate.

My practice is focused on medication assessment and management, but I am interested in treating the whole person, apart from whatever diagnosis they may have. I look forward to learning about your experience, and how I can assist you in moving forward to lead your best life.
